The staff at the hotel were superb and willing to go the extra mile - my partner and I wanted to order food, but didnt want to eat our room service in our room as it was a tad small for two to eat in, the staff were very helpful and set us a table in the breakfast room and did all they could to ensure we had a lovely stay. The roll top bath in the room made for a very relaxing romantic soak.
As the building is an old one there was creaky floorboards in the room above us, I would imagine this was usually okay, but on the night we stayed the guest above was pacing up and down throughout the night keeping us up :( lovely hotel, dont let this put you off staying! - the price of drinks however may! a 230ml bottle of coke was the best part of a fiver!
Nice quiet location, but a little further out of the city than we had wanted, but wilth good transport links it's not a big problem. Clean and spacious bedroom with excellent bathroom facilities.
Staff were really friendly and helpful. Hotel very classy. As a lone traveller I felt very much at home.
I didn't get to stay long enough to enjoy the ambiance!
Stayed at his hotel many times. Staff always very helpful it is a pleasure to stay here. " Oscar is always welcoming too"
Very clean, and comfortable with a quirky sense of design. Breakfast is very good and the staff are a delight.
We loved the design of the hotel, the comfort of the room and the friendly relaxed atmosphere. The location was delightful, as its only a short walk to the restaurants of Didsbury, and the location of the hotel itself is in a quiet leafy suburb. There are frequent buses into the city so we parked up the car in the free car park.
We thought the breakfast a little pricey if you don't eat much at breakfast time. The room rate was however, reasonable and we walked into the village for a lovely breakfast at The Deli.
value for money, however not at normal prices as the costs was reduced for when we visited
It was very comfortable. Excellent bathroom with deep bath and good shower. Pleasant staff
I thought the food was overpriced which is why I have marked the hotel down on value for money. The breakfast was not included in the price and would have cost me a further £14 for a continental breakfast, meaning that bed and breakfast was around £100. I chose to breakfast elsewhere! Similary the items in the mini bar were priced at ridicuolous prices eg a tiny 35g bar of chocolate - £2.35! I also thought that the hotel could do with a touch of refurbishment as some of the fittings, particularly in the bedroom were looking a bit 'tired'. This would not be necessary in a lower priced hotel but for one which promotes itself as high-end, I think the decor and furnishings need addressing.
We don't stay in hotels a great deal, so perhaps there are people out there who are fussier than we are, but we thought this place was great. Friendly staff, comfortable bed, great shower. Digital tv reception a bit dodgy (but it was just after the analogue switch-off) but who goes to a hotel to watch tv? We passed on brekkers which struck us a bit pricey.
Very pleasant welcome. Quirky room. Everything immaculate.
Charges for breakfast not cheap and we ate elsewhere in the morning.
nice area. Well kept hotel. nice decor, v clean and comfortable, very welcoming ,Liked the cat.
Thought the price of breakfast was a bit expensive. Maybe if you told guests what they were getting for the money that might persuade some to take breakfast.
Helpfulness of staff and decor of rooms
Very comfortable and away from the busy noise of the city centre. it had easy access in to Manchester either by bus or train. We used the bus and it was very convenient (and free as we have bus passes!)
The hotel was so tastefullly designed, so friendly and relaxing that it was one of the best places i have ever stayed
The hotel room we were given was stuffy-no aircon only heating and a small sky-light window.. We requested another room, only to be offered a room by the driveway/carpark so it would not be possible to open window. It may have been a Boutique hotel once but it requires considerable inprovemnents, upgrading fittings in bathroom etc to even qualify for this now
